Pink Slime

Post by dub » Thu Feb 02, 2012 11:57 am

I recently read a story which was written in the Daily Mail about Jamie Oliver versus the fast food giant McDonald's and his subsequent victory in America. :unionjack

The article reported that following his hit T.V. show where Jamie shows viewers that fatty cow parts /off cuts
(best suited for pet food or making cooking oil) were used in the recipe for hamburgers, also a mixture of Ammonium Hydroxide :scratch was included in the burger mixture.
It goes on to say that McDonalds will no longer include the ‘pink slime’ :no as renamed by Mr. Olive and a direct response to the chefs’ healthy eating crusades.
The part about McDonalds no longer including the ‘pink slime’ in the burger recipe in the U.S was slightly worrying :scratch
Does Mac put ‘pink slime’ in the British and European version of their hamburgers?
If the answer to that question is yes? Then it’s a good day for both the producers and exporters of ‘pink slime’. :rotfl
Finally wouldn’t it make more sense to call a hamburger a beef burger if the main ingredient is Beef? :neernerneener
