Water Shortages

Post by dub » Thu Mar 22, 2012 5:37 pm

Hi everyone :glasses
There's going to be a hosepipe ban in the South of England, staring in April, and the word is that water shortages in the future, will become more frequent.
A worrying prospect I say :glasses Experts predict that by the end of the century drinking water on the world market will be more expensive than oil :scratc
Maybe the time has come to build some desalination plants, pump in huge amounts of sea water, then turn it into fresh water?
The salt bi product will solve the councils shortages of road salt in winter :o
There is talk that a giant pipeline will constructed from Russia to supply water to China.
A better idea for us then, would be if the water companies in the U.K were to invest in a pipeline to transport water from the wettest regions to the driest.
What with Japan pumping millions of gallons of radioactive water into the pacific and the worlds fish stocks predicted to collapse by 2050 the the human race can lay off the worlds oceans for the present.
Gloomy stuff
:mz created a Good News forum way back last year :applause It now languishes defunct at the bottom of our index page as good news seems short in supply
