More to the point stanwho, in my opinion, I 'm not sure that "Don't Ask Questions qualifies" as an old saying same as in, "a nod is as good as a wink to blind bat" won't fit either ! But, "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth" is as it can be traced back to the first time it was written :indifferent This was recorded in 1546.
Don't we just hate a smart arse :-D
