Re: Pat Ritter. Books

Another suggestion by the facilitator at Pomona Writers Group was to 'keep writing'. Don't edit on the run. Switching from right brain to left brain isn't helpful in creativity - the train of thought can be lost. When the inspiration stops and the pen rests, that is the time to edit and rewrite. Pra...

Re: Pat Ritter. Books

This was a turning point in my writing career. For the past decade I wanted to self-publish and sell my books to the world. This was the opportunity I was waiting for. Mark Coker, the founder of Smashwords established this website to help authors such as myself to write, publish and sell their books...

'The Proposition' - Page 151: ‘Same goes for me Quincy.’ Kate joyfully told him. Her smile told Bundy how pleased she was when she received the news from Quincy. ‘We’ll let Mary know Peter is alive and see you and Victoria at the paceway Saturday night – thanks again mate. You’re a bloody beauty.’ B...

Re: Pat Ritter. Books

Writing a book may sound easy however writing is not - all of the book. There is the storyline to consider plus editing. Over the time I've been writing it has taken a long time to find my voice in my stories. When I write I want the reader to walk beside me in my journey. I've tried various editors...

Re: Pat Ritter. Books

Shortly after the holiday with my grandparents my family moved to Brisbane and I lost contact with bush life. It wasn't until another decade before I again went to the bush. I don't know what lurred me to the outback, perhaps to gather thoughts for further ingredients for the books I would write lat...

Re: Pat Ritter. Books

My ambitions to be a writer probably started in my teens. You may remember we wrote 'compositions' at school consisting of a beginning, a middle and a end. Not much different today. In 1964 I was a student at Sandgate High School, a beachside suburb north of Brisbane. Our English teacher Mr Imoff. I...

Re: Pat Ritter. Books

After nine years working as a detective in the Criminal Investigation Branch I was promoted to the rank of Detective Sergeant Second Class and took up a position of Officer-in-charge at Juvenile Aid Bureau Petrie, a Brisbane northern surburb. The Juvenile Aid Bureau was a section of the police which...

Re: Pat Ritter. Books

Before I attended college to share with Bob what I'd been doing, work increased to an average of two to three sessions per day. With each session I appreciated the difficult role parents had with their teenage child. It wasn't easy. After the first week it was obvious parents wanted me to wave a mag...

Re: Pat Ritter. Books

At long last I never thought attending college would be so gratifying. I wanted to learn more about the subject 'Behaviour'. The first night we handed our assignments to Bob. Before we did I asked a fellow student if I could read what they'd written. I was surprised to see the assignment was set out...

Re: Pat Ritter. Books

Before Bob and I could set into place a book on the work I was doing, first I needed to apply to the Commissioner of Police for permission to write the book. After a lengthy delay I was finally given approval on the condition that before the book was published it needed to be approved by the Inspect...
