Broken Oven

Postby smug » Thu Oct 14, 2010 6:10 pm

Our electric oven has been out of action for thr past month...
We have been doing the meat & fozen chips on our griddle, veg in the microwave.
Food is healthy good & tasty and hey !
We have made a massive saving on our power consumption, usage is down at least 30%.
We contemplating doing way with our conventional cooking setup (with that sort of saving it makes sense).
We are considering buying a stand alone halogen cooker which has low power consumption ( apparently they are the business).
We have the Forman Grill the Microwave, the hobs on the broken oven and alond with Halogen Grill what else do we need !
 8-)

LIDL have the small oven on offer again this Thursday 4 Nov. Price £29.99.

Also they have single induction hobs in then too, also £29.99, which are brilliant.

We've had both of these for some time from earlier LIDL offers and they both have been worth every penny. Indeed they, along with the microwave, got us through the phase of being kitchenless during our recent house extension!

Induction cooking is quite amazing and energy efficient, but the pans have to be of the correct type. If a magnet sticks to the bottom of a pan - it will work! That rules out any copper, aluminium and most stainless steel. Plain old steel woks with a flat bottom work amazingly well as do other steel pans and of course any pan described as compatible

Look at http://www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg//SID ... 15134&ar2= for more info.

Cheers S
