The best breakfast in Crawley?

Postby Nevis » Mon Aug 02, 2010 11:50 am

Had a lovely breakfast the other day at the cafe adjoining the Pelham Buckle in Ifield. It was a good sized breakfast and cooked beautifuly. I score it 9. The cafe in Broadfield Barton, Broadfield, Crawley, tops my list at the moment. They score a 10 as the mushrooms are griddled to perfection and the bacon thick and tasty. The breakfast is HUGE so make sure you are really hungry before you attempt one! Lol.
Where have you had an excellent breakfast? And what would you score it out of ten?
:P :D

The Dog

Postby gooner » Tue Aug 10, 2010 2:01 pm

Yo
The wife and I had breakfast at the Black Dog, Northgate, Crawley
It was Delicious.
The first hint of good things to come, was the smell of fresh coffee brewing.
The breakfast was beautifully presented, and the quality of the sausages and bacon were exceptional.
The eggs were fresh and golden with real flavor.
The restaurant is bright an airy and peaceful. The staff were friendly and attentive.
A couple of nice fish aquariums added to the comfort of the surroundings.
As well as being a public house and serving breakfast till eleven a.m,
It is also features a Thai restaurant, we had a gander at the Thai menu and it looks very tasty.
Will be going back at some point to check it out.
8-)

I also rate the breakfast at the cafe in Broadfield highly :D

But the best so far has been at the "Black Dog" in Northgate. I've been there three times now and it is consistently good. The bacon is good and the sausages brilliant. Only need a snack later as breakfast is huge :)

Opens at 7am till 11am and you get looked after there by the waitress from the Thai restaurant, who seemingly cannot do enough for you. Waitress service and going into a pub at 7:30 am for a breakfast may seem odd but it is great. Try it!

Out of ten; Broadfield 9, Black Dog 9.5, Sainsbury's Cafe 7(good value), BHS cafe 5 and TJ Hughes - 'nil points'.

I'm going to try the Pelham next :D and report back.

Sadly The Black Dog has stopped doing breakfasts. I don't think they got enough trade to make it worthwhile. There was never anyone else in there when we went despite it being top notch :(

On a brighter note, I saw a sign outside The Tavern on the Green advertising breakfasts so might give that a try. The only snag is that they don't open until 10:00AM

Yes but the Thai restaurant still seems to be going strong. I'm not mad on Thai food, so I can't comment on quality...
