Crystal Palace 2 Crawley 0
Unfortunately we didn't dump them out of the cup as planned but Crawley put in a good performance particularly in the first half. At half time, The Reds were unlucky to go in 0-0 after several chances were missed, the best being a shot from Josh Simpson turned around the post brilliantly by their keeper.
After the break, it was a different story although they started brightly with Barnett beating their keeper only to see his shot come out from the inside of the post. But The Eagles soon put paid to any further Crawley threats with two goals, both from Zaha, in the 54th and 58th minutes. Crawley pushed for the rest of the game and the Eagles dug in.
They were beaten by the better side but I think The Reds can come away fairly happy with the way they played, especially early on.
Great atmosphere, 8901 of which we took 1855 including me and Carol
Saturday sees the more important business of the league come back into focus as we travel to Cheltenham who are presently in 12th place. They have a mixed record after 4 games, winning one and losing one - both home and away
I think The Reds will bounce back from the cup defeat and will be hungry for this one
COME ON YOU REDS!
