Aldershot Town 0 - Crawley Town 1
Great result for us today as we bounce back into form! Away wins are even nicer
I took a coach from The Half- Moon to the EBB Stadium, also known as The Recreation Ground. Strange place, quite dated with a walk through a park for us away fans to this highly segregated stadium. First impressions aside, it is actually a good stadium with a great atmosphere that allowed us to be in full voice throughout the match as everything seemed amplified by the stadium design! We out sang and out insulted their fans for the whole match
Back to the game and I apologise for using the worn-out cliché about this being a game of two halves... yet again! But it was just that.
The first half saw both teams finish equal 0-0 and, if anything, The Shots probably had the better chances.
I'm not sure why this happens, but Crawley seem to perform much better after the break. It can only really be because they get told the error of their ways by Steve Evans
Crawley came out flying for the second half, winning most of the possession, keeping the ball down, playing passing moves and creating chances. This worked. Aldershot were pinned into their half most of the time.
On 64 minutes, Tyronne Barnett got the decider from a Doughty cross, my view was obstructed by one of the pillars that support the stadium roof but the ball was in the net and that was all that mattered! The Reds kept pushing and we had several more chances in the remaining time while Aldershot and their fans were subdued.
FT 0-1 and a great away result that lifts us up to fourth on goal difference in League 2.
Great afternoon out with pleasant company on the coach and a very important win behind us
Next-up is against Plymouth Argyle at The Broadfield on Sat. 1st October. Plymouth currently reside at the bottom of the table and could accurately be described as a "Club in Crisis" However, this week the man blamed for their problems, Peter Ridsdale announced that he is dropping his attempt to take the club over. This seems to have given them a bit of a boost as Plymouth unexpectedly beat Macclesfield for their first win of the season
I still think we will take the points though
COME ON YOU REDS!
