Mepham Family Tree, Battle, Sussex, to London, England.

My great grandmother was Alice Mary Mepham. I thought I'd have a go at one of my own tree branches for a change.
I wonder who I'll find? :) The journey starts in 1790, in Battle, Sussex, England, with my great great great great grandfather, Thomas Mepham.

Thomas Mepham

Register of births, The Great Meeting House, Battle, Sussex.( Unitarian Chapel).
Thomas, the son of Thomas Mepham and Mary, his wife, of the Parish of Battle, in the County of Sussex, was born on the 19th day of June 1790.
Registered the 25th day of February 1791, by me, William Vider, Protestant Dissenting Minister.

Thomas Mepham married my 4x great grandmother Susannah Avis on the 8th June 1820 at Saint Michaels Church, Withyham, Sussex England.

Elizabeth Mepham, daughter, 17, born in Bromley, Middlesex.

Susannah Mepham (nee Avis) died in 1863 at home in Bright Street, age 62.
She was buried on Sunday 1st March 1863.

Thomas Mepham died on the 19th January 1866 at home in Bright Street, age 75.
He was buried on Sunday 28th January 1866.

Thomas Mepham and Susannah Avis had 8 children.

John Mepham was born in 1832 in Poplar, Middlesex.

Marriage Record. Saint John of Jerusalem, South Hackney, Middlesex. 15th September 1856.
John Mepham, of full age, bachelor, Coppersmith of South Hackney, father, Thomas Mepham, Labourer.
Susannah Culley, of full age, spinster of South Hackney, father Joseph Culley, Gardener.
Witnesses, Mary Evans and Richard Steib.

Susannah Culley's father was Joseph Culley and her mother was Susan Pegram who was born in Bobingworth, Essex in 1805.
Joseph Culley was a Nurseryman Gardener, and at one time a Greengrocer, and was born in Presey, Wiltshire in !811.

Susannah Mepham (nee Culley) died at 68 Vauxhall Walk, and was buried on the 11th April 1883 at Tower Hamlets, age 48.

In 1891 widower John Mepham married Susannah's sister, Hannah Ann Culley.

Both John Mepham and Hannah Ann Mepham (nee Culley) died in 1896.

John Culley Mepham was born on the 29th June 1857 in Bromley, Middlesex.
He was baptised on the 19th July 1857 at All Saints, Poplar, Tower Hamlets, London.

Mary Paulin was born in the Spring of 1853 in Thatcham, Berkshire, England.
Her father was Isaac Paulin (sometimes spelt Pauling) 1831-1878 and her mother was Phoebe Dobson 1829-1893.
Her family lived for many years at Lower Way Farm, Thatcham, Berkshire.
