I had a real try at it Dennis, but as far as Frederick Thomas Penfold goes, I haven't got anything to add. Most strange.
It's also hard because his christian names get mixed up on the children's birth certificates, so he could be Thomas Frederick or Frederick Thomas?

Anyway, I found 3 other children that she may of had with a Stephen Saunter (married 1921 Cranbrook).

I think you should look at Thomas Frederick Penfold born 1901 Q1 East Ashford. Purely because it's where Phyllis was at the time she must of met him.
