British Army WW1 Service Record.

James William Dunn was born in 1886.
Age at enlistment, 29 years and 228 days. Document year 1915. Regimental No. 168162 Royal Warwickshire Regiment.
Address, Ifield Hall, Crawley, Sussex. Trade, Chauffeur. Height, 5 feet 11 inches. Chest 41 inches. chest when expanded, 45 inches.
No distinctive marks. Character, very good. Next of Kin, Mary Ann Dunn (nee Chapman) Wife. Roll no. D171. Home 10.4.1916 to 20.3.1917 then France 21.3.1917. Medals, British War & Victory Medals. A report on the accidental injuries sheet states that James twisted his ankle whilst playing football with the Regiment.
James and Mary were married at St Matthew, Brixton London on the 5th September 1909. James was 23 and Mary 29. Father of James, William Jarrett Dunn, a Furniture Salesman. Father of Mary, Alfred Chapman, a Railway Ticket collector. :)

Charles Green. Regimental No. 1378 West Kent Queens Own Yeomanry. Address, George Hotel, Crawley, Sussex. Rank, Private. Joined 10.9.1914. Character, good. Next of Kin, Emma Green, wife, George Hotel.
Medical Report. Sept 1914. Age, 40 years and 3 months. Height, 5ft 8 and a half inches. Chest, 36 and a half inches, when expanded, 40 inches. Physical development, good. Declared fit for service. Discharged 30.1.1915 due to being found medically unfit for further service.

Frank Killick, born 1876, Regimental No. 11032 Royal Field Artillery. Rank, Sergeant Major. Address, Oakside, Crawley, Sussex. Height, 5ft 8 and a half inches. Complexion, fresh. Eyes, grey green. Hair, dark brown. Mole on right cheek.
Military Character, Exemplary. Remarks were added as follows “Steady, honest, sober and reliable. Absolutely trustworthy. A man of exemplary character, suited for any position of trust and responsibility”.
Medals. Queen’s South Africa Medal 1899 with clasps. Relief of Kimberley. Expeditionary Force France 1914. 1915 1916 1914 & 1918 1914 Star Medal. Long Service & Good Conduct Medal.
Length of Service 22 years 339 days. Died on the 6th March 1919.

Medical Report on an Invalid.Station. Seale Hayne Miliy Hospl. Newton Abbot . Dte, June 12th 1918.
Unit, R.F.A. Regimental No. 11032. Rank. Sgt. Major. Name, F. Killick.
Age last birthday, 42 years. Enlisted 20th August 1895 Brighton.
Disability in respect of which invaliding is proposed. Cerebral Syphilis.
Date of origin of disability 17.3.1918. Place of origin of disability, Italy.
Remarks. “Patient had always enjoyed good health until about 3 months ago when he began to suffer from dyspepsia and insomnia. He denies that he has had syphilis. He was transferred from Italy to England and on May 6th 1918 he was admitted to Seale Hayne Hospital".

William George Kenchett. Regiment No. 3866 4th Battalion, Royal Sussex. Rank, Lance Corporal. Service from 4.12.1915 appointed Lance Corporal 27.3.1916. Address Telford House, Tarring Rd, West Worthing. Theatre of War, France. Born 1894.
He was examined on the 25th December at Crawley Sussex. Age, 22 years 9 months. Height 5 feet 10 and three quarter inches. Chest, 32. When expanded, 34. Medical Category A.
William recieved an advance of pay to the sum of £2 on the 15th January 1919 at Shorncliffe and 28 days furlough.
Wife, Ellen May Kenchett (nee Patching) they married on the 1st of October 1918 at St John's, Findon, Sussex. No children listed.

Next of Kin, William Taylor Kenchett of 1 Westview Terrace, Findon, Nr Worthing, Sussex.

After leaving the Army, William spent many years as a Policeman at Findon Police Station. His fathers will is listed.
Will of William Taylor Kenchett of Bay Cottage, Cross-Lane, Findon, Worthing died on the 27th November 1938 Administration Lewes 12th July to William George Kenchett, Police Constable.
