Destination Cuckmere Haven

By Malcolm J Page – Photographer

Out of the many places I have visited in Sussex is Cuckmere Haven and is my favourite so far. When visiting on a very bright and sunny day the landscape and waters are vibrant with colour. The walk I prefer is the grassy path alongside the lakes and large ponds, in spring you can see schools of fish and large crabs. The path eventually leads to the beach by the Seven Sisters. This is a great place for a relaxing day out and there is parking in the forest car park (left) or on the right side of the road. There is a forest and the walk described above, so three types of landscape in one place. Also the Berling Gap is only about 5 miles further. I hope you like the photos and have a good day out should you decide to visit.

Directions from Crawley:

Take the A23 to near Brighton and turn left onto the A27 Lewes, keep on the road past Lewes until you get to the roundabout forDrusillas turn right and go through Alfriston. Stay on this road and you will come to a large town petrol station, turn left so the garage is on your right. Follow the road to Cuckmere and park up. There is a Pub on a river before you get to the park. The journey takes approximately 1 hour as most of it is on dual carriageway.
