Watch out for falling satellite

Postby steveizy » Thu Sep 22, 2011 6:42 pm

"The US space agency (Nasa) says that its out-of-control climate satellite is expected to crash to Earth sometime on Friday evening (GMT).

There is still much uncertainty over when and where the satellite will re-enter the atmosphere."

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-15021323

The satellite could return to earth anywhere and for once NASA has no real idea where. Hope it and it's big chunks land harmlessly out at sea.

True! But people sometimes win the lottery. MZAWF doesn't, but some do

If a piece of UARS did hit a person, the U.S. would be responsible for damages thanks to a 1972 international "space debris" treaty. If you find a chunk, though, you're not allowed to keep it. "Any pieces of UARS found are still the property of the country that made it. You'll have to give 'em back to U.S.," :banana

NASA Satellite falling to earth 09/23/2011
There is tons 0f junk in orbit about 800 km above the Earth is called the "junk orbit," This is where defunct satellites gather together :scratch
From what I can find out there is little chance any of this debris falling to earth :indifferent
If we carry on filling up the junk orbit we could end up with a visible ring around the earth like saturns.
:yes
